Welcome to Unica.
Our story involves three generations of women and our voyage around the world: Lane, her mother and her daughter.
It all started in Europe with Lane's mother, who after the second World War taught herself sewing to support the family. She had a wonderful sense for chic fashion and could dress a woman impeccably for any time of the day: morning coffee in the city, office meeting, school pick-up, walk in the nature or an exclusive gala evening. Lane and her little daughter enjoyed being dressed in stylish clothes that no one else could find in stores. Years went by and Lane's mother passed on....
Lane eventually found herself in Toronto, retired but with tons of youthful and creative energy. A spontaneous search for hobbies led her to The Make Den where she took a short sewing class, only to continue learning via online sewing tutorials and experimentation. She took it upon herself to continue the tradition of creating chic and unique items for her own daughter, this time expressed via accessories. But why stop at her family, when she can continue the tradition of giving the sense of unique chic to many other daughters out there. One like yourself or the women in your own life.
Hence, the birth of Unica. A family shop, providing original, handmade items designed with love and care, to make you feel unique in the world.
Thank you for visiting.
